Now I’m sure that there are a few vegans that will claim to have a number of super powers, like the power to “lower cholesterol” or “turn chickpeas into tuna”, they are both pretty impressive. However, there is one that I haven’t spoke about before…
Vegans can see into the past.
Wonderful Husband was the inspiration for this article. For a previous blog post (Plant-Based Eating is for Girls) I’d asked him if he had noticed any changes since he had been eating more plant-based. He replied
“When I eat meat, I now know that I’m eating dead animals.”
This was a big deal. Growing up in modern-day society we are conditioned to seeing chunks of flesh as though they only ever existed as chunks of flesh and never as the living animals they once were. This normally changes after learning about common animal farming practices from documentaries such as Earthlings or Dominion, or short Youtube videos such as Dairy Is Scary. In doing this we learn that a life existed before we paid for it to be killed.
Then we stop paying for it. Then we go vegan.
I saw this happen to Bestest Daddy in front of my very eyes. When he was pescatarian, there was one instance that we went out to eat and he ordered seafood paella. On top of the paella were full bodied prawns and they still had their eyes. Bestest Daddy stared at the prawns. Bestest Daddy was suddenly able to see that the prawns once lived but had died for his paella. Bestest Daddy went vegan less than six months later.
He developed the “super power”.
Just for those that don’t share our super power, let me be more specific…
When I see chicken eggs, I see the chickens crammed together in the free-range farm. I see the male, one day old chicks getting ground up alive.
When I see cow’s milk and cheese, I see a cow being forcibly impregnated by a farmer. I see a baby calf being dragged from his mum.
When I see fish, I see a fish painfully die because their bodies have slowly shut down from being taken out of the water.
When I see bacon, I see a piglet getting his testicles ripped off with no anaesthesia. I see a pig squealing as it’s forced into a slaughter house.
So if you’re interested in developing this super power, then maybe try watching one of the links listed above. Be warned, these videos will help you develop the super power pretty quick and it may take a while to adjust. If you need help adjusting then I’m here for you. Always 💚
I could see why people go vegan… after reading this, I might too… but I love meat so much that it will be hard for me to go vegan… may try part time for start… thx !

Thanks for being open to reading this. I know a lot of vegans that used to love eating meat. We still love the taste of meat, but the lives of animals are far more important. If you can try part-time then that would be amazing. Let me know if you have any questions 💚

You’re right it is cruel. It’s also easier to call animals ‘things’ as you referred to in your comment. By calling them ‘things’ implies that they are not sentient beings.
If we rewrite your last sentence as “It really is cruel to think of an animal suffering” then we really place the importance on the animal 💚

I have tried to start going Vegan. I first started by doing one day a week about 6 months ago. I am now doing it 3 times a week. Thanks for sharing this. Was a positive and interesting read!

I am trying to develop better eating habits. I am slowly cutting meat and I am sure with time, I can completely become a vegan.

We’ve Recently turned vegan, maybe not because of the exact same reasons but it’s horrible what people do to those animals. 😓

More power to you, my friend! I’ve been a vegetarian by birth and now more than ever by choice. I’ve limited my dairy intake the best I can, and I am mindful to finish all my food, regardless of origin. One small step at a time 🙂
